The Kinshi High-Tech Chamber Filter III consists of 3 chambers, each filled with carefully selected filter materials: 1 chamber with filter brushes for mechanical filtration of pond water, and 2 chambers filled with Kinshi mats for 100% biological filtration by bacteria. Both filter materials are very easy to clean.
Filter brushes are designed to remove coarse waste particles from pond water which can pollute the water and clog the filter. Japanese mats are used to purify the water and remove small, organic waste particles. The mats also offer an ideal surface to which useful,
waste-product reducing bacteria can adhere. The bacteria in the filter 'eat' the toxic waste materials in the water (proteins, ammonium, nitrite, etc.), resulting in a natural processing of
the waste in the water. The bacteria in the mats' biofilm live on the constant supply of waste materials. By allowing water to flow over the biofilm on the mats, useful bacteria are given the chance to absorb nutrients. The water must be allowed to flow over the biofilm for a certain amount of time so that the contact time with the biofilm is long enough to allow a sufficient breakdown of the waste materials. The Kinshi High-Tech Chamber Filter III ensures that this occurs.
Using a bottom drain with a ball valve, each filter compartment in all of the chambers may be cleaned separately.
The Kinshi High-Tech Chamber Filter III may be used as a gravity filter or as a pump-driven filter. When used as a gravity filter, the water running out of the filter is pumped back into the pond. The water overflowing from the pond via a skimmer flows back into the filter. The filter is placed under or at the water surface of the pond. When used as a pump-driven filter, the water in the filter is pumped out, and the water runs out of the filter back into the pond. The filter is then placed above the water surface of the pond.
